The four evangelists: 1st century bloggers.

Mark, Mathew, Luke and John had the responsibility to write down Jesus Christ history, taken into account the multiple lessons he left us using as reference the oral tradition from the first catholic communities and from those that lived with Jesus. Each of the four books has its own nuances according to its own God love experience but also taken into account their target audience.

As a catholic, I have always been impressed by the similarity of the three synoptic books, acknowledging than the one from John has a fully different purpuse (possibly more theological). Only as adult, I am starting to perceive the richness of such nuances in each of them. If you are interested in them and much more, I would recommend you the book “ La biblia para hípsters” from Francisco Varo. This book uses a comprenhesive and entertaining language to explain the whole bible in general, and the differences in these four gospels and its reason in particular, during chapters 12 to 15.

Without making spoiler…

• Saint Matthew (Matt in the design) wrote the gospel thinking in the hebrew people, showing them how God has fulfilled its promises in Jesus Christ.
• Saint Mark (Mark in the design) wrote the gospel thinking on the non hebrew people that were converting into catholic. He makes special emphasys on the universality of the God redemption.
• Saint Luke (Luka in the design) that wrote his book later in time, aims to be more pedagogical and it is designed to integrate with some order all the oral tradition he had received from those that lived with the Lord and the disciples in order that the cronology and the experience is well structured to survive for the next generations of catholics like you and me.
• Saint John (John in the design) that approach his book differently, with a clear focus on the keye messages and symbols that showed that Jesus was the Son of God.

Having said that, this design aims to put the four together proudly as they were the superheroes from their time with one of the greatest mission ever: put down in words for us the history and the lessons from the Lord.
